How do six Calendly alternatives compare by operating model?
On this page
Start with who operates the scheduler. Product features matter after that choice, and current plan details belong on each vendor's official page. We do not copy plan prices.

What our Cal.com deployment proves
AI Jungle's first-hand evidence is one existing self-hosted Cal.com deployment. AI Jungle deployed that instance on 12 August 2026. It uses the official Cal.com container with PostgreSQL and is operated by AI Jungle. The current endpoint at cal.welcometotheaijungle.com returned HTTP 200 on 10 October 2026. These dated facts come from the AI Jungle fleet record and a fresh public endpoint check, both verified 10 October 2026.
That evidence proves only that the Cal.com instance is live and self-hosted. It does not prove:
- uptime, security, compliance, or performance;
- backup quality or recovery success;
- price, savings, or feature completeness;
- calendar-provider configuration; or
- superiority over any hosted option; or
- operation or testing of Cal.diy.
The official Cal.diy repository describes the project as open-source scheduling infrastructure. Cal.diy is the self-hosted/open-source option linked by the repository and self-hosting documentation. Verified 10 October 2026: official Cal.diy repository. The repository supports the open-source classification. It does not expand what our fleet check proves. Cal.diy is not tested by us.
Which operating model should you choose?
The six options fall into operating models that place the deployment responsibility in different hands.
- Self-hosting ownership: For a new deployment, evaluate self-hosted Cal.diy only when your team owns every item in the checklist below. Cal.diy is the current official open-source path linked by the sources, and the installation path appears in the Cal.diy self-hosting documentation. Verified 10 October 2026. Not tested by us.
- Cal.com plans: Evaluate a Cal.com subscription when you want to compare its current plans and features. That information appears on the official Cal.com pricing page. Verified 10 October 2026. Not tested by us.
- Hosted scheduling: Evaluate Calendly or Doodle when a standalone hosted service matches the job. Calendly documents its scheduling features on its official features page, and Doodle documents Booking Page and Group Poll on its official product page. Both sources verified 10 October 2026. Both options are not tested by us.
- Calendar-suite route: Evaluate Microsoft Bookings or Google Calendar appointment schedules when you want the official tool documented by that calendar provider. See the Microsoft Bookings product page and Google Calendar help. Both sources verified 10 October 2026. Both options are not tested by us.
This is the useful break from generic alternatives lists. The first decision is who owns operation. The second is whether an official calendar-suite tool matches the job. Only then should you compare current features and pricing.
The self-hosting ownership checklist
The following checklist is AI Jungle editorial guidance. It is not a claim about Cal.diy, and it is not a deployment sequence.
- Updates: Name who owns update decisions and execution.
- Backup definition: Define what your team means by a usable backup.
- Recovery test: Define and perform the test that shows recovery worked.
- Email delivery: Name who owns transactional email delivery.
- Domain and TLS: Name who owns the booking domain and TLS.
- Calendar-provider configuration: Name who owns configuration for the calendar providers your team chooses.
- Named operator: Give the deployment to a specific operator or team.
If any item has no owner, choose a hosted operating model. That recommendation does not claim that a hosted product removes every administrative task. It keeps the self-hosting decision tied to the responsibilities in this checklist.
Relevant questions about Calendly alternatives
Is there a better option than Calendly?
There is no universal winner. AI Jungle's current operating choice is to keep one existing self-hosted Cal.com deployment while it owns the operating checklist. For a new deployment, the current official open-source path linked by the sources is Cal.diy, which is not tested by us. A reader who cannot own the checklist should choose a hosted operating model. Cal.com subscription plans, Calendly, Microsoft Bookings, Google Calendar appointment schedules, and Doodle are also not tested by us.
What can I use the free version of Calendly for?
Calendly's official pricing page lists one event type, one calendar connection, one-on-one scheduling, and a customizable booking page for the Free plan. Verified 10 October 2026: official Calendly pricing. Calendly is not tested by us. Check the official page before deciding because we do not reproduce plan prices.
Does Microsoft 365 have a calendar scheduling tool?
Microsoft offers Microsoft Bookings. Microsoft says that Bookings works with a Microsoft 365 calendar and provides booking-page and appointment controls. Verified 10 October 2026: official Microsoft Bookings page. Microsoft Bookings is not tested by us.
Should a small team self-host its scheduler?
Self-host only when a named operator owns updates, the backup definition, recovery tests, email delivery, the domain and TLS, calendar-provider configuration, and the deployment. This is AI Jungle editorial guidance, not a Cal.diy feature claim. Cal.diy is not tested by us. If the team cannot own that checklist, choose a hosted operating model.
Make the decision
AI Jungle's current operating choice is to keep one existing self-hosted Cal.com deployment while it owns the operating checklist. For a new deployment, the current official open-source path linked by the sources is Cal.diy, which is not tested by us. A reader who cannot own the checklist should choose a hosted operating model.
